Retention and Graduation Rates

Every year, colleges and universities like LCCC are required to submit data about our college and our students to the federal Department of Education. This information is then posted on the federal web site, College Navigator, where you can search for colleges and compare information. LCCC is now also required by the federal government, under the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008, to provide all students and prospective students with specific information about our college, including the retention and graduate rates on this page. 2021 to 2022 First-to-Second Year Retention Rates for First-Time Students

This retention rate measures the percentage of first-time students who return to LCCC to continue their studies the following fall.

• Full-Time: 63%
• Part-Time: 44%

Graduation and Transfer Rates for First-Time Full-Time Students

The overall graduation rate is also known as the “Student Right to Know” or IPEDS graduation rate. It tracks the progress of students who began their studies as full-time, first-time degree- or certificate-seeking students to see if they complete a degree or other award such as a certificate within 150% of “normal time” for completing the program in which they are enrolled.

LCCC also reports a transfer-out rate, which is the percentage of the full-time, first-time students who transferred to another institution.

Note that not all students at LCCC are tracked for these rates. Students who have already attended another college or university, or who began their studies on a part-time basis, are not tracked for this rate. At LCCC, 28 percent of entering students were counted as “full-time, first-time” in fall 2019.
